My Covid-19 Experience

I am a 23-year-old student who went for internship experience in an IT company in Kolkata. Just when the internship was about to come to an end covid-19 pandemic started, first it was something that I saw in my smartphone but very soon it became something real that could be felt in the neighbourhood.

From the viewpoint of a person close to me I could be called a lazy person but I consider myself a listless person i.e. I don't leave my room or have a lot of enthusiasm unless it becomes necessary to do so, hence lockdown wasn't really anything new to me. But I wasn't alone in my room this time and it didn't take much time before I was forced to self-reflect and not just on myself but also on my environment and society as a whole. One thing that was clearly visible in the start was how we lacked most natural and simple thing as thinking as an individual and how much we relied on the government.

The society which had gone in self-preservation felt as an untamed beast panicking with the slightest change in its environment and showed us what we lacked as individuals, society and as a nation. The intelligence of the crowd was reflected in the hostile vibe they gave. The whole experience I think caused or forced pause for everyone giving a little time to this busy world which had lost itself in everyday routine.

As for me covid-19 pandemic was a miniature play of life itself showing us how we want all good and happy things in life without accepting and acknowledging the pain and bad experiences which helps us grow. Covid-19 was a reminder for me which reminded me that some things in life cannot be escaped from, all we can do is try understanding it and even if we don't like it, it will still be there and we just have to learn to live with it.
